Tim started performing stand-up comedy in 1997 in a little café in San Francisco. In a few years, he developed his act and showcased it in world famous comedy clubs such as Punch Line and Cobb’s where famous comics Robin Williams, Chris Rock, and Drew Carey took their first comedy steps.
In 2002, Tim decided to go back to the Philippines and share his style of comedy with his people. Since then, he has been converting everyone into comedy fans that expect a higher caliber of wit. He has performed in local venues such as the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the University of the Philippines Theater, Sanctum, ABS-CBN, Music Museum, the Comfort Room, National Sports Grill, and many more. He has also performed with Robin Williams, Jon Santos, Allan K, S.P.I.T., and Candy Pangilinan.
A critic coined Tim’s performance perfectly, “Tim Tayag has Steven Wright’s deadpan delivery, Jerry Seinfeld’s witty observations and Ray Romano’s timing. What Tim does is take an ordinary situation and bring it to an extreme level of absurdity.” His diverse background and world travels allow him to relate to Filipinos and foreigners. He does a lot of “adlib” onstage giving each show a very personal and interactive feel. He bridges the gap between different cultures through laughter. If you’re into comedy that goes beyond slapstick and the classic funny face, then you’ll enjoy his unique brand of comedy.
Today, Tim has expanded his career into television. He was the supahhost of a talent search reality show called “MTV Supahstar”, which aired on MTV. He writes, directs and hosts in the international travel program “On-Foot” on the Living Asia Channel. And he was the co-host on the wildly popular late night show Men’s Room on Studio 23. He also owns a production company called Bacon Burger Production, which produced a sportshow called “Bolahan” for MTV and is currently working on a pilot for a sketch comedy show. In his spare time, Tim writes for travel and lifestyle magazines.
